Hi. Is it possible to transfer pictures to the model LG U8120 from a computer with an USB cable?

Hi Andreas,

The short answer is that it is possible to transfer pictures from the LG U8120 to a computer, and vice versa. You can use a USB data cable for this, and I believe a suitable USB cable is usually supplied with the phone. However, if you need a cable then the original LG part number for this cable is LGDK-40G.

If your computer has an IrDA infrared port then the phone can also transfer files that way as well.

A CD should be supplied with the phone, and this holds the PC Suite software for interfacing between the phone and the PC. The CD should contain all the software you need to do picture file transfers. If you do not have the CD then the PC Suite software can also be downloaded from the LG website.

I hope this answers your question, but get back to us if you feel you need more details.

Hello again.

Thank you Mike for your information.

The CD does not contain any feature for picture transfer though. Do you think it is possible to do it another way??

Thank you again for your time.

Hi there Andreas,

I am not sure what images you want to transfer? I am also not familiar with what is on the CD, and so maybe there are no images on the CD that you can use. However, you can download images onto your PC from websites, and then use the PC manger to install these onto your phone - if that is what you want to do? The PC manager is the way that you can convert the files into the form that the phone is able to use

I looked around several websites to see what information was available, and I discovered that many owners of the U8120 have been experiencing problems with the PC Suite that comes on the CD. It seems they have found it difficult to use, and it is often not possible to get the PC to talk to the phone. There may be some bugs on the v1.00 and v1.01 disks (if that is what you have).

I suggest that you visit gb.lgservice.com to download the latest version of the software. Click on 'product support' > 'device drivers' > 'mobile phones'. Then select the 'U8110' file LGPCSync.zip, and download it to your computer. Remember that the U8110 and the U8120 are virtually the same phone.

Unzip the files, and with the phone connected, install the programmes. This will then give you the most up-to-date drivers, and the com ports will show up in device manager as 10 and 11.

Click on 'phone manager' shortcut.
Left click 'contents' icon (above 'messages' and 'contents')
Left click 'transfer' on the top menu bar.
Click on 'set com port'.
When you select 'USB' for communication method, 'Com 10' automatically sets on 'port setting'.
Click on 'connect' (below file, on the tool bar).

You should now be able to access any audio or picture messages on your phone, via the computer, using 'contents', or access text messages via 'messages'.

I also see that another downloadable file can be found under 'PC Program' (U8110Ver1.03_English), and this is available at the page: www.lge.com. This second download may contain different software to the first, I am not sure, but I expect you may get better results with these downloads than you do from your CD.

I hope that you can find what you are looking for on the LG site, but there is plenty of information out there, and a lot of comments from LG users can be found in some of the Forums. It takes a lot of surfing and sifting through the rubbish to get to the useful information, but there is not usually any easier way to find the answers without spending a lot of time searching.

I would be interested to know how things work out, so drop us an email and let us know what happens.

Warm regards,
