Motorola v180 voice activation

Subject: Motorola V180 - voice activation
From: Jeannine

I currently have a Motorola T720, which has voice activation. I looking at the V180 for Unicel’s GSM, does this have voice activation like the T720?

Thank you, Jeannine

Hi Jeannine,

First, there should not be any problem about which Service Provider you are with, as voice activation is a function of the phone and not a network feature.

I assume that you are referring to the T720i rather than the T720? Although I don’t think there is any difference between them regarding voice activation.

You can actually check many details yourself from information on the Motorola website. You may not be aware, but you can download PDF copies of both user manuals from their website, and then read through them to check for any other differences that concern you. The 2 phones can be found at:

http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=256564&prmenbr=126&phone_cgrfnbr=1&zipcode=

Both phones use a system of voice recognition for recording voice name tags, which you can then speak into the phone for dialling. As far as I am aware both phones can only do voice dial, and not voice control of other phone functions.

I cannot find any information on how many names can be stored in each phone to be voice dialled, so I am not sure if this is one of your worries?

The main difference I can see between the phones is that the T720i has a voice key on the side of its case, which is pressed to activate the voice recording, and used when dialling. The V180 does not have a voice key, but these voice recording and voice dialling functions are selected by scrolling through the menu, although you can set up a shortcut for this.

I would suggest that, if you want to know more, then you should download the manual from the Motorola site above and read through it yourself.

Unfortunately, many manufacturers do not go into great detail about the exact features on their phones, and the only sure way to find what they do is to try the function out in a store, if it is that important to you.

Anyhow, I hope I have answered your question, and that the V180 will meet your needs.
