Subject: NEC e101

I have just purchased a NEC e101 from Woolworths. a) I do not know what to put on the order form for ringtones as they don't mention this one. b) Does this phone have a wire to connect from phone to PC?

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Hi Elaine,

In reply to your points, my answers are:

(a) I expect that you are with O2, and that you have visited their website and found that they do not mention the e101 on the site? I think the reason for this is that the phone has not been around very long, and O2 have simply not got around to listing it yet. Your phone does support the downloading of polyphonic ringtones, and so you should be able to carry out this operation. I am not too sure if there is any problem downloading ringtones from O2 to the e101, although as they seem to cost about £2.50 each it doesn't seem too great a risk to try one to see if it works?

I noticed that another ringtone supplier claims to offer e101 compatible ringtones, and you might like to take a look at that site, as they are offering them at £1.50 each: www.nokfun.co.uk/polyphonic_ringtones.asp?Country=ireland&RingtoneType=poly

But doesn't this model have a ringtone composer fitted? Why not make up your own ringtones !!

(b) On the connectivity issue it is not good news. You will notice that your phone has a socket for the charger, and another for fitting a headset. So I am afraid there is no provision for connecting a cable between the phone and a PC. In fact there is no provision for any connectivity by infrared or Bluetooth either, so if you bought the phone with the idea that it was suitable for downloading stuff to your PC, then you have been misled. I guess you could send some pictures or other material via MMS to another phone that could connect to a PC, but then that would be just too inconvenient. So sorry I can't offer any help on that one.
