Nokia 6230 applications
Skip contentSubject: Nokia 6230 applications

Good site. What I miss in Nokia 6230 is:
(i) A list of useful applications (free or commercial) not included with the phone,
(ii) Which brand MMC cards it accepts and what capacity?
My special interest: would you happen to know if there is a software/application for 6230 that enables it to record from FM radio?
Thanks and best regards, Jani

Hi Jani,
Regarding your comment about listing useful applications. We are constantly thinking of ways to improve our website, but it is difficult covering everything that might interest a particular user. We try to offer the sort of information that most visitors might be looking for, and remember that some information is not that easy to find. However, having said that, we do intend to add more sections and facilities to our site over the coming months, and it is comments like yours that will help us to make the sort of improvements that we hope our visitors will approve of.
Coming to your questions. I am afraid I have never seen an application for the 6230 that would allow you to record from FM radio. I expect that this is one of those specialist requirements that would not produce enough demand to attract a developer to create such an application. Sorry, but I think that is the truth.
If you are interested in applications that are compatible with the 6230, then probably the supplier that offers the largest range of products is Handango. They have several national websites, but going to the one for the “USA and the rest of the world”, they list 50 applications that might work on the 6230. You should check that the application is compatible before you buy anything. Try the link below:
The number of applications does not seem to be that great, but if you are really interested in the widest range of applications, then a smartphone would be a better bet than the 6230 for finding the software that you need. For example, the Palm operating system is claimed to have over 20,000 titles available.
On your other point about MMC cards. I see that this is a topic that has been discussed on the Nokia Forums. Try the page below, and you should find some of the replies contain the information that you require about compatible MMC cards:
I hope I have helped you, but if you want to get back to me about anything, then I will try my best to answer your questions.

From Jani:
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your quick reply, you’ve helped me a lot, or rather my girlfriend who has the 6230. We’re both in the radio business, so she’d find the FM recording feature useful for control & all. If it’s a no go, so tough luck.
I’m aiming for the K600i or 6680, so I guess I’ll have to wait out some six months...
Thanks again and best regards,
Jani
