Unlock your phone

We offer an unlocking service for some phones, using a simple process detailed below.

Unlocking your phone allows you to use SIM cards from any network in it, instead of just those from the original provider. Sometime you will also gain access to some functions originally locked out by your network. You can unlock many handsets simply by keying in a code on the keypad, with the SIM removed; if successful, a "SIM restriction removed" (or similar) message is displayed.

Unlocking your phone is perfectly safe, and legal in most countries, including the UK. Networks do not tend to forbid unlocking in their contracts and many will even offer to unlock your phone for you, but usually at an exorbitant fee.

For more information about unlocking, please have a read through our Unlocking FAQ. If you're still unsure about the legality of unlocking, you should contact your network or have a look at the terms and conditions of your agreement.

  • Manufacturer?
  • The manufacturer of the handset - e.g. Nokia, Sony Ericsson.
  • Model?
  • The model of the handset - e.g. 6230, P910i. If you’re unsure, this can sometimes be found on a sticker near the battery label, and it will definitely be written on the phone’s original box.
  • IMEI?
  • IMEI - This is a unique number that identifies your individual handset. Every phone has an individual IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity), and many phones have individual unlock codes that depend on the IMEI number. This number can usually be found on a sticker inside or near the battery compartment, and is almost always 15 digits long.
If you want to save the effort of opening your phone up, you can try pressing *#06# on your keypad. A serial number may appear - if it does, write it down. This is your IMEI number.
  • Network (UK)?
  • Network - The name of the network that the phone originally came from.
