How do I know my phone is locked?

An easy way to check is simply to swap the SIM card for one from a different network. If you get an error message indicating that your SIM card is invalid, not recognised, or that you are requested to enter some code, then your phone is probably locked. If you swap your SIM card for one that is for another network, and the phone still seems to work normally, then the phone is already unlocked.
