Will remote unlocking always work?
Skip contentIf you supplied the correct information to the unlocking company, and followed all the instructions given to you, then an unlocking code should always work. The only circumstances in which it will cause problems is if the phone has had its IMEI number changed, but this is a good indication that the phone was stolen and its software modified illegally (if you find that your IMEI has been changed you should report this matter to the police).
Another possibility is that the phone was reported lost and the phone has had its service blocked by the network, and this will then lead to the phone not being able to be unlocked. Also, if you have tried to unlock your phone before, then there is a possibility that a new unlock code will not work, so do not waste your money trying lots of different unlocking companies if the first attempt has failed - there may be good reasons why the phone cannot be unlocked (see the details given elsewhere in this section).
