Hi,

I am looking at buying one of the two phones mentioned above. Can you tell me what the difference is between the two? I am guessing that the LG U8120 is the newer of the two?

Also do they have good coverage?

Thanks,
Lynne

Hi Lynne,

The 8120 is an update of the 8110. The only significant difference that I can see is that there was an increase in the internal memory from 14 MB to 32 MB, which is enough to make it worth going for the 8120. There was also a slight re-styling of the case.

This phone does not have a slot to take memory cards, so you are limited by the memory installed. If you feel you will need lots of memory (for photos, etc), then the 8120 looks the best bet. However, I guess you may be able to shop around and find a cheaper price for the 8110 (as it is older)?

Regarding coverage - I expect you are referring to 3G coverage? The 3G coverage is getting better, but is still not generally available in many countries, and even then it is more restricted than the old 2G and 2.5G networks (which seem to be almost everywhere). I am not sure how up-to-date the information is, but the best place to find coverage maps, as well as network details, is to look at the GSM Association website, and the page you want is:

http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/index.shtml

The GSM Association gives information that will help you decide what chance there is for roaming in the countries you want to use the phone.
