I got given a 6600 off a friend who had a free upgrade. The phone was locked to Orange, I got it unlocked to accept my genie 02 pay and go. The problem is trying to get MMS and GPRS set up, I have tried many times through the internet and over the phone to 02, but still no joy! no photos and no internet. The phone also keeps chucking up this box asking me to select a access point which I do, then 2 min later it asks me again!!
can you please help??
my imei number is ****
kind regards keith davis

Hi Keith,
This is a real pain setting up these services, but I guess you realise that as they are network dependent services you will have to set them up via O2 (i.e. we cannot do it for you). It seems you have already been there, but the O2 Internet page for the settings is:
http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/ota2/select/0,,184,00.html
I suppose the next stage is to try contacting O2 directly, and asking them why you cannot set up their services?
I looked around to see if I could find any information that might help you, and I came up with the following pages that refer to setting up a 6600 with O2:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html#o2
http://www.filesaveas.com/6600wap.html
http://www.filesaveas.com/o2.html
I am not sure if you have already been down this route, but you can try their procedures to see if it gets you working, before approaching O2.
There is also a reply on the Forum of the above website that might help. The suggestion is that you need to do a “hard format”. The instructions given are:
NB Make sure you have a full battery before doing any of these steps!
1) BACK UP YOUR PHONE using "PC Suite for Nokia 6600" (this takes a while)
2) After backing it up you need to hard format the phone:
Turn off the phone
Hold down the call button (green) + The * button + The 3 button (def 3)
Then turn on the phone while still holding down those buttons
3) A screen should come up with the words Formatting, wait until that is done, do not try turning off the phone at this point.
4) Your phone will then restart. Connect it back to your pc using data cable, iR, or bluetooth.
5) Then restore the phone data. (this also takes a while)
6) Restart the phone when finished restoring.
7) You will probably need to aquire the gprs/mms settings again from the networks website.
Worth a try, eh?
Get back to me if you think we might be able to help you further.
