I am thinking of purchasing the Sony Ericsson 910 - will my existing ‘Think Outside’ wireless keyboard work with this phone?

Also, is the phone compatible with Mac?

Thanks

Hi Margaret,

I checked with the Think Outside website, and it seems to be no problem to use your keyboard with the P910. The P910 is a Symbian smartphone with a UIQ interface, and this is acceptable according to what I have found on the following website page: http://www.thinkoutside.com/drivers.asp?ManufacturerID=35&ModelID=155

I do not know if you have an IR or a Bluetooth wireless keyboard, but they are both compatible as the P910 has both IR and Bluetooth wireless connectivity options available. If you download the PDF User Guide from the above page, you will see that it is fairly straightforward to set up the phone to access the keyboard. You should have received a CD with the keyboard, which contains the drivers that you need. However, if the drivers are not on the CD (or you do not have the CD) then you can easily download them from the same Think Outside website page that I have given you above.

It is not such a clear picture regarding the compatibility of the P910 and the Mac.

On the page below (from the Apple website), if you look down the list of phones it indicates that the P900 is compatible for synchronising with the Mac, by Bluetooth only: http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html

Although the P910 and P900 are very similar phones, I can’t be sure that they would both work with the Mac.

The other thing, which makes me doubtful, is that there is no mention on the Sony Ericsson website of compatibility with the Mac, e.g. see the page below, which only refers to PC use: http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ps1_1_3_4_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10185&fid=9928&esi=true

The only other reference that I could find to the Mac was in the P910 User Guide, where it says that the Memory Stick Duo (which is the memory card the P910 accepts) can be used to transfer data between the P910 and a PC or Mac. This appears to indicate that you could move data between the Mac and the phone using a Memory Stick, although you would then need a suitable memory card reader (I doubt you would have one fitted in the Mac).

So, I would recommend you to contact Sony Ericsson if you are keen to ensure compatibility with the Mac, although to my mind it is not compatible enough to be of much use.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.
