PlayFon opens Asian office in Hong Kong
Skip contentHong Kong, September 19: PlayFon, an international provider of wireless entertainment announced opening an office in Asia. The office located in Hong Kong at Hong Kong Wireless Development Center (Hong Kong Wireless Development Centre Unit 403, IT Street, CyberPort 3, 100 Cyberport Road) is set to coordinate PlayFon’s activities in Asia-Pacific. The company joined HKWDC earlier this year in August 2005.
The choice of Hong Kong as the location of the Asian office is no coincidence. Hong Kong is a universally recognized link between China and other South-Pacific counties. HKWDC unites the best developers and providers of wireless content for 3G networks. It aims as a regional wireless and mobile applications hub in Asia Pacific to attract investments and talents from around the world. PlayFon believes that the interaction with the firms operating at the center, testing and customization of services to the local networks will enable the company’s smooth penetration into the Asian market. PlayFon is going to offer a multi-million audience of Asian subscribers its vast collection of mobile content.
“Opening the office in Hong Kong is a real milestone for PlayFon. Joint efforts of Russian and local managers will help the company to build partner relations with major carriers in Southeast Asia” PlayFon Vice-President Vladimir Borodin said.
PlayFon’s participation in 3 GSM World Congress Asia 2005, the most important event for the telecom industry in the area is another important step toward integrating in the Asian market of wireless content. The congress will be held September 26-30 in Singapore. In 2004 the 3GSM World Congress Asia welcomed over 2,300 industry professionals from 92 countries. The current event features over 25 sessions, 120 expert speakers from around the world, plenary sessions, keynotes from top industry leaders and 3 separate tracks covering the hottest topics including strategies for industry growth, technological innovations and strategies for growth in developing markets.
This year’s event delivers the very highest caliber attendance, including senior officers of such companies as Sybase, Orange, O2, Warner Brothers, Telenor, Ericsson, Electronic Arts, and many others. VAS services are bound to be one of the pivotal issues of the forum. During the second day all the sessions and panel discussions will revolve around content delivery, wireless entertainment, mobile games and other important topics.
“We hope that our participation in 3 GSM World Congress Asia will be productive and fruitful. We plan to present our gaming-portfolio and other content to our potential partners including largest Asian carriers and content-providers. It is a two-way street - the leading developers of mobile games display keen interest in the Russian market of wireless content. We have already signed a contract with Indiagames; several similar agreements are being negotiated” Andrey Gidaspov, PlayFon business development director Asia stressed.
Currently, PlayFon content and services are available for Russian, Ukrainian, British and Swedish subscribers.
