Double-cell Super Twisted Nematic
Skip contentDouble-cell Super Twisted Nematic displays enhance the STN LCD by placing cells on top of each other. This offers a true black and white display instead of the near-black and near-white levels typically found in standard twisted nematic displays. Such true black and white is possible with a double cell structure as the second cell, whose director points in the opposite direction, exactly cancels out the interference introduced by the first cell.
Double-cell Super Twisted Nematic displays also offer slightly improved contrast.
