The headset usually consists of two earpieces and a microphone, and it plugs into a socket in the handset. The headset may also provide private listening to music on those phones fitted with an MP3 player or an FM stereo radio, and in the latter case the headset leads usually act as a radio aerial.
For phones equipped with BluetoothTM technology a Bluetooth headset is usually available, which not only provides hands-free use but also enables the wearer to wirelessly control functions on the phone.
