Kilobit

Kilobit is a unit of measurement in data communications used to indicate the amount of data transferred. In the field of data communications a kilobit is 1,000 bits (i.e. using decimal notation).

Because the bit (binary digit) is a unit of the binary number system, some sources quote the kilobit as 1,024 bits. However, in data communications bits are counted using the decimal number system.
