Mobile Station is now the preferred term for describing the mobile device that a subscriber uses to communicate with a mobile phone network. The reason for calling it a mobile station is that nowadays there are many devices capable of communicating via the telephone system, including mobile phones, PDAs, pagers and laptop computers.
