BlackBerry 7230 smartphone

BlackBerry 7230 is a tri-band mobile phone suitable for worldwide roaming. The handset has a larger than normal format, and this body style is designed to combine its use as a phone with the other data-based functions of email, SMS, and Web browser, as well as acting as a personal organiser. The features of this mobile phone make it a useful device for professional business use.

BlackBerry 7230The BlackBerry 7230 has a large display with a resolution of 240 x 160 pixels, and this screen can support up to 65,536 colours. The phone’s wide display is matched by the width of the onboard QWERTY keyboard, which is another feature that will make the composition of text messages an easier task. Both the display and keyboard are backlit for easy viewing by day or night.

A further useful feature results from the fact that a PIN (Personal Identification Number) is used to uniquely identify each Blackberry handset. If you know another person’s PIN you can send a PIN message directly to them, without it being routed via an existing e-mail account.

The 7230 is Java™ enabled and so is capable of running Java applications and games programs. One Java game comes preloaded, but more may be downloaded, and you can also download any Java applications that you need to use.

The GPRS and WAP capability allows you to have fast and easy access to the mobile Internet, and the large screen and QWERTY keyboard makes using the Web browser more practical than on many smaller devices. WAP push enables you to receive content from web applications without requesting it. For example, you can receive updates, or notifications, for weather, stock quotes, or news.

This push feature also applies to e-mails, as the “always on” GPRS connection keeps you in contact with the network, and so e-mails come directly to you as they are sent, without the need to dial in and check whether you have any new mail. E-mail attachments can also be viewed and forwarded on the 7230, with important formats such as Microsoft™ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF being supported. In fact, Blackberry can provide a full and secure encrypted e-mail service via the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES).

For many users synchronising their business data will be a priority, and the BlackBerry 7230 can be connected via a data cable to compatible devices to carry out this process, using applications such as Microsoft Exchange™ and Lotus Notes™.
