LG C1100 mobile phone

LG C1100 is a dual band mobile phone that comes in a traditional clamshell design, and its silver/chrome finish also gives it a clean and stylish appearance. This small and lightweight model is exclusive to Orange, and it is being offered at a low price that will appeal to the budget end of the market. Although there is no camera in this model, it has to be admitted that not everyone either wants or needs to have a camera integrated into their phone. However, there are some other interesting features that this phone does have, including GPRS and WAP technology, MMS multimedia messaging, a voice memo recorder (records up to 10 voice messages, each up to 20 seconds long), Java™ enabled, and a good selection of polyphonic ringtones. A hands-free headset is also supplied with the phone.

LG C1100The display is a STN type of LCD screen, which offers a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, and this is also capable of reproducing up to 65,536 different colours. There is, however, a drawback with the display features being offered by this phone, because - unlike most other clamshell models - there is no external second screen provided for viewing details when the phone is closed. This lack of a second screen may be a problem for those who like to see who is calling before opening their phones, and it does mean that other important phone information can only be viewed by opening the phone.

As the C1100 is MMS enabled, it is possible to use this phone to send and receive multimedia messages containing a combination of pictures, animations, sounds and text, and you can exchange such messages with other MMS compatible phones. Without a camera you obviously have to find another source for any pictures that you wish to use in MMS messages. One way is to reuse the pictures that you receive in messages that are sent to you, or alternatively you can choose to download suitable pictures from those that are available via Orange.

This phone may be personalised to reflect your own taste, and so if you find yourself needing some more content, such as wallpapers, screensavers, images and polyphonic ringtones, then these can be easily downloaded from the Orange World WAP portal.

Another useful feature of this phone is its Java™ capability, which means the phone can run a wide variety of Java applications and games. One game called “Spaceball” comes preloaded for your entertainment, but there is always the opportunity to download more games when you want to try something different, or to download some new applications that you need to use for business or pleasure.

The C1100 has integrated GPRS and WAP technology, and this provides the user with a fast and “always on” access to the network services, including the mobile Internet. With this Internet access you are able to make use of the information and other services now provided for the mobile phone user, so that you can search for news bulletins, sports reports, weather forecasts, traffic news, online banking, shopping and other purchases, entertainment, business reports, and much more. Among the range of online services available, you can also gain access to e-mail facilities via Orange World.

A number of organiser and PIM features are provided in the C1100, including a calendar (scheduler), phonebook, alarms, world clock, calculator, and unit converter. You will also find those other features that you would expect to find in a modern mobile phone, i.e. a vibrating alert and T9 predictive text input.
