LG U8110 mobile phone

LG U8110 is a dual mode clamshell mobile phone designed to work on the 3G and GSM networks (dual band). This is LG’s first 3G handset, and at 126g it is one of the lightest and smallest 3G models currently available. There are many good features included in this phone, among them the integrated GPRS and WAP technology, video calling, MMS multimedia messaging, video and audio streaming, video recording download and playback, MP3 player, sound recorder, Java™ enabled, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, active flip, LED flashlight, and e-mail client.

LG U8110There are dual LCD displays in this phone, with the large internal screen offering a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels, and the capability to reproduce up to 65,536 different colours. This high definition screen presents you with a clear view of the phone menus and pictures you use; also during video calls the screen displays your picture as well as that of your contact. The external monochrome display has a 64 x 96 pixels screen, and this shows useful details such as the time, caller identity, battery condition, and network status.

The LG U8110 has an integrated camera that doubles up for stills and video, and this can take pictures of up to VGA quality (640 x 480 pixels). Other useful features of the camera are its 2x digital zoom, adjustable exposure setting, and a picture editor to edit your pictures. The camera can rotate through 180 degrees, which is important when the phone is used for video calls as you can point the lens either towards or away from you, so showing your contact the view you want them to see. Pictures and video taken with the camera can be sent to your contacts in MMS messages or in e-mails; for example, an MMS may contain a video clip or image, audio and a text message.

With its 3G technology, the LG U8110 allows you to benefit from streamed video and audio, and you will be able to make use of the many services now available via mobile phone, including live news, weather, travel, sports, entertainment, stock market prices, etc. Music on the move is also possible with the integrated MP3 player, and you can download the audio tracks you want to listen to. The downloading and playing of video clips is another feature that will appeal to users, although this is where a potential limitation of this model might become apparent, as memory hungry content soon uses up the internal memory, and 14 MB might prove too little for users who like to carry around lots of stored music or video clips.

As the LG U8110 is Java™ enabled it can run a wide range of Java applications and games. Although no games come preloaded in the U8110, it is easy and quick to download games and new applications when you need them. You also have the option to download more wallpapers, screensavers, logos and polyphonic ringtones, when you want to personalise the look and sound of the phone.

With its integrated GPRS data transfer technology, this phone provides you with fast access to the network and an “always on” connection, and the WAP browser makes it easy to handle the mobile Internet. An e-mail client is included, which enables you to use the standard e-mail services, and this feature also supports the normal IMAP4 and SMTP protocols.

The LG U8110 can be connected to compatible equipment by using its wireless infrared port, or alternatively you can make a wired connection using the USB data cable. Once connected it is then possible to synchronise your personal information such as schedules and phonebook contents with a PC or PDA, or to exchange information and files including video, pictures or sounds.
