Motorola C385 mobile phone

Motorola C385 is a tri-band candy bar styled mobile phone, and a suitable handset to take with you when going worldwide roaming. Among the features of this model are its useful GPRS and WAP technology, MMS multimedia messaging, video download and playback, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, Java™ enabled, voice control, and a selection of polyphonic and MP3 ringtones.

Motorola C385An active matrix TFT type of LCD screen is fitted in the C385, and this provides a resolution of 128 x128 pixels and is capable of reproducing up to 65,536 different colours. Although it is not particularly large by the latest standards, this display provides enough detail to enable the user to make selections from the icon based menu system, as well as to provide the means to view the games, images and videos that this model can handle. With its MMS capability it is possible to send and receive multimedia messages with this phone, and these messages may contain a combination of a video clip, picture/photograph, text and sound. This phone is also capable of downloading and playing video clips.

The C385 may be personalised to make it reflect the user’s own tastes, and this allows the phone themes to be changed, so that you can select different wallpapers, animated screensavers and ringtones. When you wish to move on from the supplied images and ringtones, it is an easy matter to download new content over-the-air. For those who wish to create their own ringtones Motorola’s MotoMixer™ application is provided, which allows you to remix MIDI ringtones from preset sound file tracks, made up of 4 instruments such as piano, bass, drums, and guitar. For a bit more personalisation you can use shots taken with the phone’s camera as caller ID pictures, to let you quickly know who your contacts are, and also you may set a unique ringtone alert to help let you know who is calling.

Being Java™ enabled, the C385 is capable of running a range of applications and games that use the Java software platform. For some light entertainment the phone comes embedded with 2 games - Hungry Fish and Skipping Stones - but more games and applications can be downloaded when you need them.

The phone’s integrated GPRS technology is another important feature, and this gives you a faster data rate for exchanging information between the phone and the network. The other useful data-handling feature is the WAP 2.0 browser fitted in this model, which offers users the ability to browse the mobile Internet and to make use of the many online services available for news, sports, travel, weather, entertainment, business, and more.

When you need to connect the phone to other compatible equipment, such as to a home PC, then a mini USB data cable connector is provided to make the link. Once connected you have the opportunity to synchronise your personal information, for example in the phone’s calendar and phonebook, and to transfer any sounds and images that you wish to use.

The C385 comes loaded with several useful organiser functions, including a calendar, clock, alarms, calculator, and currency converter. The other standard features on offer are a vibration alert and Motorola’s iTap™ predictive text input.
