Motorola C550 mobile phone

Motorola C550 is a dual band cameraphone in a neat candy bar format. This mobile phone is based on the popular C350 model, and it includes several useful features for those who want to upgrade, such as its integrated GPRS and WAP technology, MMS multimedia messaging capability, Java™ enabled software, voice control, and polyphonic ringtones.

Motorola C550The display in this phone is a colour LCD screen with a resolution of 96 x 65 pixels, which can also reproduce up to 4096 different colours. In practice this display supports 4 lines of text and 1 line of icons. As the C550 is MMS enabled, you make use of the display to view pictures sent in messages, and you can send and receive MMS messages that contain a combination of images, animations, sounds and text, which allows you to insert some unique personal touches into your communications.

The C550 has an integrated CMOS digital camera, and its lens is situated on the back of the phone. This camera is capable of producing VGA quality pictures (640 x 480 pixels), and to assist with picture taking a 2x digital zoom is also provided, as well as the possibility to adjust the exposure setting.

Personalisation of the phone is a feature that many users look for, and the C550 can use a range of changeable and downloadable Themes (i.e. co-ordinated ringtone, wallpaper & screensaver). You can also download other pictures, animations, sounds, or themes that you find on a Web page to use in this phone. Another possibility is to change the external covers and keypads in order to modify the phone’s appearance, and a range of changeable covers and keypads is available. For those who like to be more creative, you can even produce your own ringtones using MotoMixer™, which remixes preset sound file tracks made from 4 instruments such as piano, bass, drums, and guitar; you can also download new sound files to create fresh combinations.

Being Java™ enabled, the C550 is capable of running a range of Java applications and games. The phone comes with some games preloaded, although you can download more games, as well as new applications, when you feel the need to try something new.

With its integrated GPRS technology this phone provides you with the means to gain fast access to the network services, and this also gives you an “always on” connection, where you pay for the amount of data you actually use rather than the time you are on the network. With the phone’s WAP feature, and its micro-browser, you are in a position to access and search the mobile Internet, and to identify any information and services that you need.

For connectivity the C550 has a mini USB connector to make a data cable link up with compatible devices, such as PCs or PDAs. Once you have established a connection to the other device, it is then possible to exchange files or data and to synchronise your personal information from a contacts list or schedule entries.
