Nokia 2650 mobile phone

Nokia 2650 is a dual band clamshell style mobile phone that comes in a choice of three colours: silver, red or brown. This is a well-featured phone, although it lacks some of the more advanced facilities, and so it will appeal to those who don’t need, for example, an integrated camera or Bluetooth™. The significant features included in this phone are its GPRS and HSCSD data handling, WAP, an xHTML browser, MMS multimedia messaging, Java™ enabled, active flip, and polyphonic ringtones. Unusually, on this phone the SIM card is inserted into a slot in the side of the case, rather than the more common method of removing the battery to insert it, which may be a feature that will attract some users to this model.

Nokia 2650The display in the 2650 is an LCD screen with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, and the display can also reproduce up to 4,096 different colours. Being MMS enabled, you can use this phone to exchange multimedia messages with other MMS capable phones. For example, you can send and receive messages containing a combination of text, image and MIDI (audio) files. However, as there is no integrated camera, the user will have to seek new images over-the-air, although there is the opportunity to do some simple editing of the pictures, such as cropping the image size, and adding text or clip art. With its ability to handle images you can attach a picture to the contacts in the phonebook, which will help to identify your friends when they call.

For those who like to personalise their phones, there is the opportunity to alter the look and sound of the 2650 by downloading new content such as ringtones, images, logos, wallpapers and screensavers. It is also possible to set up the phone’s LED keyboard lights to flash, and this can be used to alert you to incoming calls and messages, or to let you know when your calendar or alarms have expired.

With its Java™ capability, the 2650 can run a wide range of Java applications and games. Apart from the Java programs that are supplied with the phone, when you want to try some new game, or need to find a special application for business or personal use, then it is an easy matter to download these over-the-air to the phone. This model also supports games that use lights, sounds and vibrations to enhance the gaming experience.

Good data handling capability is provided in the 2650 by its integrated GPRS and HSCSD technology, which gives the user fast access to the network and an “always on” connection. This packet switched data transfer also has the added benefit that you only pay for the amount of data you actually use, rather than the length of time you are connected to the network. The other important data features are the WAP and xHTML browser facilities, which enables you to access the mobile Internet, and this allows you to seek out information and online services, such as news, sports, entertainment, weather, traffic, business, and shopping.

Other useful features of this phone are its organiser functions, which include a calendar, clock, alarm, calculator, currency converter, stopwatch, countdown timer and a phonebook for 256 contacts with up to 5 entries each. In addition, this phone supports the international standards for the exchange of vCard business cards and vCalendar notes. The usual vibration alert and T9predictive text input are also included in this model.
