Nokia 5100This handset is more rugged than usual, with a rubberised finish designed to give a better grip on the phone, as well as making it more suitable for use in harsher environments to resist splashes, dust and bumps.

For viewing pictures and menus the 5100 has a large 128 x 128 pixels resolution screen, which can display up to 4096 different colours. The display allows you to make good use of the MMS messaging capability, as you can receive messages containing a text, an audio file and a image, which can be saved as wallpaper and ringing tone; or you can send and forward messages containing images and text to other compatible phones.

With its GPRS, HSCSD and WAP capability, the Nokia 5100 is well-equipped for access to the mobile Internet, and you can make good use of the higher data speeds when browsing the Web, to take advantage of the services on offer there.

The Nokia 5100 also has good connectivity via the wireless infrared link, or a wired data cable connection. The phone is then able to transfer data or files with compatible devices such as a PC or a PDA, and this allows you to quickly and easily synchronise your personal files.

Although the Nokia 5100 does not have an integrated camera, a plug-in camera is available as an optional accessory.
