Nokia 6230 mobile phone

Nokia 6230 is a tri-band cameraphone for worldwide use that is designed in an attractive candy bar styling. This mobile phone is literally packed with features, and amongst its useful onboard facilities are Bluetooth™ wireless technology, FM stereo radio, MP3 player, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, voice control, multitasking, voice memo recorder, MMC Multimedia Card storage, and polyphonic ringtones.

Nokia 6230The Nokia 6230 has a TFT active-matrix LCD display with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels, and support for up to 65,536 colours. This screen enables you to view your MMS messages, as you can send and receive messages containing text, a sound clip, and an image or a video clip to other compatible devices. The phone has the capability to record and playback audio and video, and this video feature supports a rate of 15 fps; you are able to record up to 5 minutes of video (2MB) using the phone’s camera. You can also play streamed video and audio from any WAP site that provides a source.

The 6230 is a mobile phone that will satisfy those users who enjoy music on the move, as you not only have an integrated FM radio, but also immediate access to any MP3 or AAC files you wish to download. Although the phone already has a useful 6 MB of memory fitted, there is an additional onboard MMC Multimedia Card that allows you to save a large amount of phone and personal data, as well as music files (an extra 32 MB of memory is available on the MMC card supplied with the phone).

One of the useful pieces of software on the supplied CD-ROM is an application to convert your own audio CD tracks into AAC music files. The more recent AAC files only take up about half the memory space of MP3, so allowing you to store twice as many tracks in the phone. One extra benefit of converting your music to MP3 or AAC files is that you can then use them as personalised ringtones.

The Nokia 6230 is Java™ enabled and can therefore run Java games and applications, and more games and applications may be downloaded for use on this phone when you need them. One of the supplied Java applications is a useful e-mail program, which allows you to use the phone for normal e-mailing via the standard POP3 and IMAP4 protocols.

Those who go for the Nokia 6230 will probably not be buying it for its appearance, which is simple and elegant, but there are some changeable covers available for this phone to make it appear more colourful. You can personalise other phone features by downloading wallpapers, animated screensavers, polyphonic ringtones, etc.

With its EDGE, GPRS and HSCSD capability, the 6230 allows you to reach high speeds when transferring data, but only if you are connected to networks that support this technology. This improved data speed could prove a bonus to users who do a lot of Web surfing on the mobile Internet, and it will make MMS messaging faster also. Another useful feature of this phone is its support for multitasking, which allows you to use several of the phone’s facilities at the same time.

Many users will be attracted by the 6230’s support for Bluetooth™, which with its infrared capability will allow you to easily exchange files wirelessly with another compatible mobile phone, PDA or PC. However, if you need to connect via cables then the phone’s Pop-Port™ connector and cable provide a convenient way to interface with a range of equipment.
