Nokia 7600 mobile phone

Nokia 7600 is a dual mode mobile cameraphone having the capability to operate either on the 3G networks or as a dual band GSM mobile phone. The style of the mobile phone’s body is a leaf-shape, and this model is clearly aimed at image conscious buyers who think of their phone as a fashion statement. Due to the shape of the handset the keypad has been split into two lines of keys on either side of the phone’s display, which may take a little time getting used to for those used to more traditional key layouts.

Nokia 7600Among the significant features that this phone offers there is integrated Bluetooth™ wireless technology, GPRS and 3G packet data transmission, MMS multimedia messaging capability, video recording playback and downloading, digital sound recorder, MP3 music player, Java™ enabled, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, voice control, and a full e-mail client service.

The Nokia 7600 has an active matrix TFT colour LCD display, which can reproduce images with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels in up to 65,536 different colours. Being MMS capable, the 7600 can send and receive messages containing a combination of video, images, sounds and text, and the phone’s screen is capable of displaying these messages to make full use of the multimedia messaging system. Also, as this phone supports video streaming, you can watch any live video action and not miss out because you are moving around.

A VGA quality camera is integrated into the phone (640 x 480 pixels), and there are three picture qualities that can be selected. A night mode is also provided for taking pictures in poor lighting conditions, and the camera has the dual function of taking video at up to 15 fps, although there is no provision for live video telephony. Pictures taken with the phone’s camera can be used as wallpapers if you wish.

There is an MP3 player built into the Nokia 7600, which offers the user the chance to play music when out and about. It is also possible to download music files over-the-air or from a compatible PC by using Nokia’s Audio Manager, which is included in the Nokia PC Suite supplied with the phone. The 7600 has a large internal memory of 29 MB, although this cannot be expanded as there is no memory card slot provided - that might be a problem for those who like to carry around lots of MP3 tracks.

For users who want to customise their phones, the 7600 offers a choice of changeable covers to alter the phone’s external style. It is also possible to download new wallpapers, animated screensavers, and other graphics to change the phone’s appearance. Another way to personalise this phone is to download new polyphonic or music ringtones, which can be carried out over-the-air or via a PC.

The WAP, GPRS and WCDMA technologies mean that the 7600 is able to make good use of the data services now available over the mobile Internet, and these technologies also ensure that the data transfer rates will be fast. You can browse the Internet and seek out the information and special services you require, such as news, sports, weather, traffic, entertainment or stock market prices. Also included in the phone is a full e-mail client that uses the standard POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols, so you can use your normal e-mails while on the move.

The Nokia 7600 offers a choice of connectivity options. You can use the integrated wireless technologies of Bluetooth™ and infrared to link up to compatible devices such as PCs, PDAs and other mobile phones. The alternative choice is to use a wired connection via a USB data cable. Whatever method of connection you choose, you are then able to transfer files and data so that you can share your pictures, sounds and video clips with other devices, as well as ensuring that your personal data is safely stored on your PC.
