Nokia 8910 mobile phone
Skip contentNokia 8910 is a dual band cameraphone, and it is the first Nokia phone to use titanium in its construction (a light but strong metal that resists corrosion). It is the outer covers of this model that are made of the titanium, and when you need to use the phone a release mechanism is operated to slide the phone out of its case to reveal the keypad.
Amongst this mobile phone’s other useful features are its support for wireless Bluetooth™ connectivity, GPRS and HSCSD data transmission technology, a WAP browser, voice control (voice dialling for up to 10 names), and a voice memo recorder (up to 3 minutes recording). Several organiser features are included, such as a Calendar and To Do list, as well as a calculator, currency converter, alarm clock, stopwatch and countdown timer.
The 8910 has a bright LCD screen that is capable of displaying full graphics, but it is only a grey scale display and so cannot be used for colour pictures. The display is used to select the menu options and to view the picture messages you handle; it is also used as the screen when you play the four games that come preloaded in the phone.
There is no integrated camera, so any pictures you wish to send in messages will probably have to be found from elsewhere, although 10 pictures come with the phone and there is space for a further 5 to be downloaded. Some smileys are supplied to enhance your SMS messages, and these can be edited when you want to create something special. You can also personalise the phone with new downloaded ringtones.
The 8910’s built in GPRS and HSCSD technology offers you the means to transfer data faster, and this also provides an “always on” connection, where you pay for the data you actually use rather than the period of time you are connected to the network. The phone can gain fast and easy access to the mobile Internet via its WAP browser, and this is the powerful tool that enables you to make use of the many services and information sources now available from the WAP sites.
For connectivity the 8910 has integrated Bluetooth™ wireless technology, which provides you with the freedom to use short-range radio links to other compatible phones, PCs or PDAs within a 10-metre distance. The alternative wireless feature offered by this phone is the option to use its infrared port to make short-range connection with other IrDA devices. Once you have established a wireless connection, you are then able to exchange files and data between the two devices, and this enables you for example to synchronise your Calendar and To Do list with that on your home PC. The phone also supports the sending and receiving of the standard vCard business cards.
