Sharp 903 mobile phone
Skip contentSharp 903 is a dual mode cameraphone capable of operating on the 3G networks, and in addition it can also perform as a tri-band GSM mobile phone. The phone will work in most parts of the world and is available on the Vodafone network. Although this is basically a clamshell design, the top part containing the display can rotate through 180 degrees and fold back to convert the phone into a camera. The phone display section can actually be set into three different positions, referred to as normal (the standard clamshell look), self-portrait (where the display is turned through 180 degrees so you face the megapixel camera lens and display at the same time), and viewer (when the display is arranged so the phone appears like a digital camera). This is the same arrangement as was used on the earlier Sharp 902 phone, and this new model is clearly based on that model. The swivelling screen allows you to set the best shooting angle for photography, as well as for viewing the results on the display, and when the screen is turned the camera comes on straight away. The only physical drawbacks of this phone are its relatively large size and weight.
The Sharp 903 has a similar collection of features to its predecessor, and includes most of the technical facilities you could want in a top of the range mobile phone. Key features include Bluetooth™ connectivity, 3G data handling, GPRS and WAP technology, two-way video calling, MMS multimedia messaging, a mini SD™ memory card slot, video and audio streaming, MPEG4 and MP3 players with stereo speakers, voice memo recorder, video capture download and playback, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, Java™ enabled, and an e-mail client. There is also a flight mode, which shuts down the transmitter when you need to use the phone’s other options while on an aeroplane.
