Cameraphones - Ease of handling

As stated previously, the location of the camera lens may play a significant role in deciding how easy it is to use the camera, and whether you can still see the viewfinder display whilst taking photographs. It is always best to check any handling issues before committing to a particular model, to ensure that the camera can perform the functions you wish to use it for.

Self-portraits are one specific type of photograph that the user may wish to take on a cameraphone, and the ease with which this can be performed may vary greatly depending on the model. You should check the location of the display and lens when taking self-portraits, to assess how easy it is to see what the camera is pointing at. On some cameraphones you can see yourself on the phone’s screen, and in others a small mirror is provided near the lens, to enable the user to see themselves while preparing to take the shot. A timer is another universally available feature on cameraphones, which allows the camera to be set up for a photograph, and then gives you enough time to get into position and appear in the shot a few seconds later. The timer feature may work perfectly, but consideration must also be given to how easily you can prop up the phone in the correct position without it falling over.
