Cameraphones - Flash
Skip contentMany cameraphones claim to have a flashlight or camera light fitted, although this usually turns out to be only a weak LED light, rather than the powerful flash tube used in a proper flashgun. The LED lights fitted in cameraphones might just make a little difference to light a face in close up, but they cannot hope to make a significant difference in any larger scene.
LEDs are unlikely to provide sufficient power to take good pictures in low light conditions, and it would be more effective to use a separate lamp to light the scene if the lighting level is poor. However, a few cameraphones have been designed to accept a plug in flashgun, to be fitted as an optional accessory; since these plug in flashguns are similar to the normal flashgun on a digital camera, they will give the best result.
